1998 ANNUAL TOURNAMENT

Dear Coach,

Once again our tournament is a reality and I hope you enjoy a wonderful day of soccer with your family. The tournament will be play at Piscataway. Fields are located off Witherspoon, next to Conackamack Middle School.

The league has invited the South Brunswick team for the third time to participate in our tournament and they have accepted our invitation.

THE COST IS $120.00 dollars per team. The cost for any team outside of our league is the $260.00 paid in cash at the registration desk before your first scheduled game.

Games will start at 9:00AM sharp on Sunday August 09/98.

Tournament Rules

 Tournament check in: All teams participating in the tournament are expected to check in at the registration desk at least 30 minutes before your first scheduled game.

Age requirement: This is an over 30 tournament and no players born after December 31/1968 will be allowed to play. Players must provide proof of age if requires during any game in the tournament. This tournament is for the pleasure of our players that participated during the regular season. Please do not load your team with players that did not participate in the 1998 season.

This takes away the Fair Play and Fair Competition.

If a team is caught playing an under 30 player, all previously awarded points will be removed, all won games will be considered a lost of 2/0. Also, if any goals have been scored during the game where the player is challenged, the goals will be removed from the offending team.

Rules of Play: All League rules of play will be in effect for this tournament, with the following exceptions.

  1. Game length will be 40 minutes two twenty minutes halves.
  2. No breaks between halves only change of field direction to restart.
  3. Free substitution by either team on throw-ins, injured player, goal kick or a goal.
  4. No slide tackles permitted in this tournament.
  5. No player is allowed to play in more than one team in the tournament.
 Discipline: The referee will have full control of the game. All decisions are final, and there will be no appeals or protests. Scoring: (3) Three points for a win, and (1) one point for a tie.

Tied Breakers: The following procedure will be used to determine a division winner.

  1. Most Points
  2. Goal differential
  3. Goals Scored
  4. Head to Head
  5. Penalty shoot-outs first round, second round sudden death.
  6. If you are in the 6-team group and have not played each other, the break will be determined by two (2) 10 minutes halves sudden death. If still tied, penalty kicks as item five.
Finals: The top 2 teams at the end of the first round (three games) from each division will play for first and second place.

Championship Game: The final game will be (2) 20 minutes halves, with a 5 minute intermission. If no winner at the end of regulation time, then a (2) 10 minutes sudden death half will be played. If this fails to determine a winner a penalty shoot-out will occur. All FIFA rules will apply for the shoot-out.

Trophies: Trophies will be given to the 1st and 2nd place winners.
